ARC TESTER
What is the SENSOR DDS® MIT Arc Tester?
The SENSOR DDS® MIT Arc Tester is the most revolutionary QC device in electrical leak location. It was developed specially for the testing of exposed geomembranes and in accordance with the newly published ASTM D7953 standard
The SENSOR DDS® MIT Arc Tester can precisely locate the holes through the liner including in the welds immediately after installation. The size of the detectable holes starts from less than 0.1mm! When a hole is detected, the SENSOR DDS® MIT Arc Tester will alert the user with an internal audio-visual alarm. It is very easy to use and does not require any expensive training unlike other methods. The SENSOR DDS®MIT Arc Tester is simply a “plug & play” device. For those who would like an official training certificate issued by Sensor, we do offer a one day training course where we can train as many of your operators as required.
It is Important to note that SENSOR DDS® MIT Arc Testers don’t interfere with each other so multiple units can be used on one site at the same time (refer to device manual). If required, daily productivity can be increased simply by employing more operators so your project will never be late. Our main goal was to bring our clients a QC tool which is more effective, reliable, economical, easy to use and more precise than other commonly used methods including water based systems. We are proud to say that this was achieved in every sense. The SENSOR DDS® MIT Arc Tester is made in the EU. From the first glance you can see and feel the quality of this product which is backed by the standard EU warranty.

PRODUCTS
We would like to offer our clients even more flexibility and the ability to conduct their own surveys using our SENSOR DDS® MIT Arc Tester. That is why we now have 3 versions of the SENSOR DDS® MIT Arc Tester available for sale in order to make it easier for you to choose the right version for your needs.
Standard

The Standard version of our arc tester is suitable for testing exposed non-conductive geomembrane on large scale projects (landfills, water storage ponds, mining leach pads etc.)
XL

This is the extended version of our standard arc tester suitable for projects where the operator must reach heights of up to 6m (for example high water tanks)
XS

With its length of only 65cm this version of our arc tester is suitable for testing geomembranes installed at small garden fish ponds, flat roofs, etc. Its low weight and small size allow the operator to test such areas easily.

Designed to maximise your productivity
The Roller

Standard probe

High Sensitivity probe long 100cm

High Sensitivity probe short 50cm

Our SENSOR DDS® MIT Arc Tester can be used everywhere waterproofing is required. For example; on geomembranes installed at basins, ponds, tanks, leach pads, storm ponds, landfill cells, green and other flat roofs; landfill caps, tunnels, building foundations, canals and other containment facilities. It is the most technologically advanced QC tool for testing exposed geomembranes. It is capable of testing exposed non-conductive geomembrane and even geomembrane covered with geotextile! In comparison to the common holiday spark testers our Arc Tester can locate a leak in a patch repair.
What can the SENSOR DDS® MIT Arc Tester do for you?
● Improve the quality of your geomembrane installation
● Provide clients with additional services
●Replaces your old, ineffective and time consuming water based and holiday spark testing method of leak location
● Provides the assurance of a leak-free lining system
● Provides your first step to “Zero Leaks”
● Expand your business
Usage Conditions
The SENSOR DDS® MIT Arc Tester can be used on any non-conductive geomembrane like HDPE, LLDPE, PVC, bituminous liner and other electrically insulating materials.
A grid, test lanes or other acceptable system should be used to ensure that the entire area including welds are tested with the test probe. The SENSOR DDS® MIT Arc Tester probe attachment can be supplied with different shapes and lengths (as required by client).
Testing must be performed on geomembranes that are generally clean and dry. Small non-conductive debris can be present. There needs to be a sufficiently conductive material below the geomembrane being tested (e.g. sand, gcl, soil, clay etc).
For double lining systems comprised of two layers of geomembrane in order to make any electric method feasible a sufficiently conductive layer such as a conductive geotextile, conductive geocomposite, aluminium foil, sand, or any appropriate conductive material shall be installed under the upper / primary geomembrane. Conductive-backed geomembrane can also be used as the upper / primary geomembrane to enable the method. It is not recommended to use this equipment in wet conditions or during rain / snow fall.
For more information about the method principles please see ASTM D7953-14
Over the past 30 years Sensor has been using this technology all over the world from Africa, USA, Chile, Germany, England, the rest of Europe and the Middle East. Millions of square meters have been successfully tested using the SENSOR DDS® MIT Arc Tester.
